Nie wierzę tej pogodzie! Wczoraj na rybnickim swapie było chyba z 30 stopni, a dziś leje deszcz i jest co najmniej o połowę chłodniej. Tragedia. Swap zresztą też tragiczny. Jak człowiek nie ma wyćwiczonej ofensywno-naporowej taktyki to mógł tam zginąć. Oddałam w piątek jakieś 60 ubrań, wyszłam z jedną bluzką. Moja szwagierka wyszukała trzy bluzki i pasek, i tylko dlatego, że jest zaprawiona w lumpeksowym boju pt. przepychaj się i wyrywaj co się da innym. Ja się nie nadaję.

I just can't believe the weather!! Yesterday when I went to the nearby 'big town' Rybnik for a swap it was around 30 degrees, and today it's raining cats and dogs and it's colder by more than a half. It's as terrible as was the swap.If you're not offensive and aggressive enough you might have ot killed or at least injured. I gave up some 60 pieces of clothing and came back with one top, and my sister-in-law hunted down some 3 tops and one belt and only because she's a pro in second-hand shopping/fights. I'm sooo not into that kind of stuff.

Charlottka mnie otagowała, żebym się podzieliła tym, co lubię. Łatwiej byłoby napisać, czego nie lubię :) ale się postaram.

1. Lubię obcasy, choć wiadomo, całego dnia nie idzie w nich biegać.

2. Lubię youtube'a i facebooka.

3. Lubię kupować nowe rzeczy, choć myślę, że lepiej byłoby powiedzieć, że cierpię na kompulsywne wydawanie pieniędzy.

4. Lubię książki, i na nie też tracę mnóstwo pieniędzy, ku rozpaczy mego lubego.

5. Myślę, że lubię też męża, choć pewnie się obrazi, że tylko "lubię".

6. Lubię słuchać, jak ludzie mówią po śląsku.

7. Lubię wino, najlepiej w towarzystwie i z plotami.

8. Lubię być w kinie i słuchać muzyki na napisach końcowych.

9. Lubię rozmawiać z ludźmi, którzy mają ADHD poznawcze :)

10. Lubię jeść, ale oczywiście ciągle jestem na diecie...

Ponieważ jest niedziela i ponieważ jest piękna pogoda - byliśmy dziś na festynie. Zazwyczaj nienawidzę festynów, ale tym razem był też targ staroci i stragany z miodami, chlebami, oscypkiem z grilla itp. więc było pysznie. Kupiliśmy sobie miód spadziowy, chleb litewski z kminkiem i jogurt z chleba [sic!] - pycha normalnie (a zdjęcie jogurtu poniżej).

Because it's Sunday and because the weather is outstandingly wonderful, we went to a local fete. This is not my favourite activity normally but this time there was a flea market and some stalls with various types of honey, Lithuanian bread, grilled sheep cheese etc. You could try everything (and we did) and it was delicious. We bought a loaf of Lithuanian bread with cumin, a jar of honey, and some bread yoghurt [sic!] - so delicious (and there's a photo of it below).

Ach, jak przyjemnie jest sobie trochę pochorować, posiedzieć w domu na L4, niczym się nie przejmować, leżeć w łóżku tyle, na ile mam ochotę, oglądać filmy, doczytywać dawno zaczęte książki... Cudownie jest, pomimo kichania i kataru. Obejrzałam niedawno "It might get loud" z Jimmy'm Pagem, The Edge i Jackiem Whitem i znów wpadłam w fazę słuchania Led Zeppelin na zmianę z White Stripes i The Dead Weather. Jeżeli chodzi o książki to udaje mi się wreszcie czytać więcej niż mogłam przez ostatnie dwa/trzy lata biorąc pod uwagę niedobory wolnego czasu i energii. Czytam teraz książkę Billa Brysona (mam kilka jego książek za sobą i mogę spokojnie stwierdzić, że jest genialny!) pt. "The Mother Tongue"/"Język ojczysty" i zaśmiewam się nad nią szczerze. Dziwne to trochę biorąc pod uwagę, że to historia języka angielskiego :)

Co do ubrań: kocham tę torbę a broszka jest dla mnie zbyt słodka i po prostu nie mogę przestać jej nosić :)

I'm currently trying to get over my flu and have been at home and not working for a few days already. I can't say I'm not enjoying this time off even though I'm sneezing non stop. I'm trying to make the most of staying at home - I've already watched "It might get loud" with Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White and I'm going through a Led Zeppelin stage AGAIN. Also, I'm trying to push myself into much more reading than I have done for the last couple of years. I love reading but there's never enough time and energy to finich what I've started. Right now I'm reading a great book by Bill Bryson called "The Mother Tongue" and I'm laughing like crazy! Basically it's the history of the English language gone hilarious.

As for the clothes - I love the bag. And the brooch is so cute I can't stop wearing it :)

Kiedy się mieszka na Śląsku, a ja mam tę przyjemność od jakiegoś roku, trzeba brać udział w wioskowych festynach, które obfitują w tak zwane zespoły muzyczne. Większość z nich śpiewa po niemiecku, co sprawia, że zupełnie ich nie rozumiem, co zresztą jest chyba dla mnie najlepszą opcją. Jeździmy na takie imprezy głównie ze względu na kiełbasę z grilla lub grochówkę. Dzisiaj jednak było inaczej. Nie ze względu na muzykę, ponieważ nadal śpiewano po niemiecku i śląsku - same szlagiery oczywiście. Różnica polegała na tym, że było to coś na kształt targów rolniczych z ponad miliardem ludzi i samochodów, oraz Kasią Cichopek w roli wodzireja. Emejzink ekspirjens.

When you live in Silesia you need to participate in weekly village fetes which present you with many so-called bands. The vast majority sings in German, which makes them completely unintelligible for me, which probably is the best option. Basically we always go there for a grilled sausage, or the occasional pea-soup. Today, however, was different. Not because of the music, nope, this department served us the usual German-Silesian number ones. The difference was that you could call the whole event an agricultural fair, with zillions of people around, and Kasia Cichopek as the main attraction. [irony mode off]

Oraz informacja dnia: kocham święta wszelakie albowiem wolne w liczbie dni sześciu jest genialnym doświadczeniem.

Zdjęcia zostały od stóp do głów wystylizowane i zrobione przez moją najmłodszą siostrę, która jest moim cyklicznym gościem weekendowym. Nie łudzę się, że przyjeżdża do mnie, robi to dla jedzenia i po to, żeby poprzebywać z moim narzeczonym (tak, to ostatnie chyba przeważa...:)). Tym razem jednak przydała się i mnie, choć dopiero po jękach i marudzeniu mojego wspaniałego fotografa ("Weź wykorzystaj raz Twoją siostrę zamiast mnie"), który niezwłocznie potem udał się grać w Simsy 2 (które należą do dokładnie tej samej siostry - co my byśmy bez niej zrobili? :)). Zdjęcia poniżej to tylko jeden z dwu zestawów stworzonych przez moją siostrę, drugi jest bardziej dziewczęcy i pewnie zamieszczę go jakoś za parę dni.

*** This is wholly stylised and shot by my youngest sister who comes to visit practically every weekend in exchange for food and the company of me and my fiancee (yes, she is so grateful for the latter one, I'm telling you :)). This was the first time when she actually answered the moanings of my usual photographer ("Now that you have your sister here, for the love of God, please, use HER and not me!"), while he went off to play The Sims 2 (which, now that I think about it, belongs to my sister... It turns out verybody benefits from those visits). The pics below show one of the two outfits that my sister created, the second one is much more girly and I'll show it here in a couple of days I guess.

Mam ferie! I czuję się z tego powodu przecudownie. Wróciłam wczoraj od rodziców i od mojej przewspaniałej babci, która nakarmiła mnie po uszy pierogami ruskimi. Chciałam dziś jechać do Poznania do znajomych (nie ukrywam, że liczyłam też na jakieś zakupy :)), ale pojechali sobie gdzieś na narty i nie miałabym gdzie spać.

Na zdjęciach premiera mojej ulubionej ostatnio spódnicy, którą mogłabym nosić codziennie gdyby nie to, że niektóre osoby twierdzą, że wyglądam w niej odrobinę zbyt grubo :) No i oczywiście jest kwiatek!

*** God, how wonderful it is to have a winter break... I've just come back from my parents and the best grandma in the world who stuffed me with "Russian dumplings". I wanted to visit some friends back in Poznan but they're skiing somewhere and I'd have nowhere to sleep :)

The pictures show my brand new lace bubble skirt which I absolutely adore and would wear all the time if some people didn't tell me I look kind of plump in it :) And obviously, there's the flower.

Narobiliśmy ponad dwadzieścia zdjęć i praktycznie żadne się nie nadawały. Te poniższe są bo są :) Pan Szanowny Fotograf nurza się obecnie w nastrojach melancholijnych oraz od kilku dni umiera na opryszczkę. Co za tym idzie zdjęcia będą robione rzadziej, i jeśli już to będą słabej jakości. Nie wspomnę nawet, że w porywie kreatywności zrobił mi zdjęcia pod tytułem "A teraz będziesz przekątną zdjęcia"... Ach, jeszcze komentarz co do mojego wyglądu: "Ładnie wyglądasz. Od pasa w dół". Dziękuję. Idę sobie.

***Of all 20 something pictures there were only two that I could put here, and even those make me feel bad :) Mr Photographer is currently melancholic and dying of herpes, thus the pics are going to be scarce and of poor quality. Oh, his comment to my outfit was invaluable: "You look pretty, from your waist down". Thank you, dear.

Nowości to spodnie oraz naszyjnik z sówką :) Wiem, że szał na sowy był jakiś czas temu, ale moja kosztowała tylko 6,90, a poza tym jest po prostu przesłodka. Każdemu ją wczoraj pokazywałam, tak się cieszyłam, że ją mam :D

Oto moja najukochańsza spódnica. Jest strasznie problematyczna bo się podciąga w okolicach bioder, ale uwielbiam ją nosić ze względu na kolor i materiał. Nie umiem go nazwać, ale jest szalenie miły w dotyku :) Apaszka po koszulą została przez kilka osób określona mianem "bardzo nauczycielskiej" i, biorąc pod uwagę mój zawód, nie wiem czy to komplement czy może jednak niezupełnie :)

Pictures taken in my wonderful kitchen where you can freely admire the beautiful plum wall. The dress I'm wearing is probably my best second hand buy ever. A week ago one of my sisters found her in my wardrobe and wanted to steal her. I had forgotten all about the dress but could never give her up. I only had it on me once, I guess in June or May, but it turned out that it's quite see-through :) so today I put some skinny jeans under to make it less provocative.

Oh, and the hat. Yes, it's all covered in sequins and there are people who laughed at me for buying it (including my fashion-ignorant fiancee), but I think it looks quite pretty. Even my fiancee admitted it today - what a triumph!

Considering the pictures, this post just had to be about shoes. They're extremely comfortable and warm, and above all I generally don't feel I'm about to fall on the pavements. My (worst) New Year's Eve

I would need A LOT of space and time to describe my worst trip ever, which happened to take place during the New Year's Eve. The city is wonderful but I suppose I would like it even more if we had a better guide and weren't left to ourselves for six hours in the evening. Also, I guess spending the very beginning of the new year in a bus on our way to see the fireworks is not really fun. And then after the fireworks I don't really understand why we were give another two hours of free time. It was my 22nd hour travelling and I kind of felt tired when I finally sat in my bus seat at 2 am. Today, I'm dying. This new year simply CAN'T be as bad as its beginning.

I hope.

Anyway, tomorrow really early in the morning I'm heading for Vienna with my boyfriend and younger sister to celebrate New Year's Eve there. We're coming back straight after midnight so it's going to be a very long day for us. My boyfriend is already suffering from what he calls reisefieber and we all want to kill one another. Which is nothing new.

The weather today was wonderful, sunny and so fresh. I've found these shorts somewhere at the bottom of my wardrobe and thoght they were perfect for the sun. I rolled them up to make them as short as possible (meaning as short as I would feel comfortable in). Also, I bought the wonderful flower yesterday along with a very similar dark blue one and I think it's the prettiest hair accessory I have. On the whole, I wanted a sailor look. I think I ended up with a slight flamenco misinterpretation :)

So go we did. I must say, the film was a disappointment both for me and for my so-called "true love" even though we both expected something different from it. Surprisingly enough, the cinema was full. Seems that people don't really enjoy the whole three days of feasting and watching 'Home Alone' for the umpteenth time.

As for the Christmas, I have to admit I quite enjoyed it considering it was the first time without my family. And - hurray! - I don't think I have overfed myself at all :) As a reward I'm planning a lot of shopping after Christmas.

I am by no means ready to acknowledge that in ten days we are supposed to be celebrating Christmas. How did it happen that it is December already? I have hardly any presents bought for my family. The opnly thing I am in the process of doing is decorating my first very own spruce. I was supposed to be making origami angels today but the damned instructions are bloody impossible to foillow! Instead, I've painted some walnuts silver and will try and attach some thread to them and later on I want to dry some orange slices. IF I have time.

This is me doing the 70s look, or trying hard to do it. The flared trousers come from my younger sister who used to wear them when she was around 13 or 14. The vest has already been introduced a few posts before. The shoes, oh, the shoes. I got them yesterday totally by chance when I was getting home from work and stopped in a shop just for a quick look. It turned out there was a 50% sale in the shoe shop and I got those for 30 zl (!!!!!). They're extremely comfortable and just what I was looking for for this type of weather.

In my case from 9 to 7, most of the time. Being a teacher means for me working in a state school and two language schools. I need to run around all day from the suburbs to the city centre so my clothes most often look like this. I made a mistake today of wearing beautiful but far from comfortable shoes and Monday is the worst day of the whole week as far as running around is concerned.

I'm going to have to sack my photographer. His advice "Go on, stand on that rug, it's gonna look just perfect" wasn't so good after all in my opinion.

First serious DIY

My first DIY project is finished after two days of sewing and I am proud to announce the skirt is 100 % hand made. It was supposed to be worn today on my fiance's niece's birthday but I didn't manage to finish it. The shiny material used to be a tacky flashy New Year's Eve Dress which I bought a few years ago and decided it was too big and generally not me at all. The black material comes from a pleated skirt which was also too big. I wanted the pleated material to fall more diagonally but as you see - it's the beginning of me sewing.

Funny how my head looks huge in the first picture :)

This is me going out for the so-called Andrzejki. My nemesis, such parties, especially in village surroundings. However, having the dress and my wonderful sister as my personal hairdresser, go I did. It was OK, for such a party :) except for the dress constantly going up and giving all interested a chance of looking at my bum while I was dancing. What can you do, nothing can be perfect.

There are some things that I cannot cope with, for example changes of seasons. It's especially problematic to find any agreement between the actual temperature outside and my sudden, always unexpected desire to wear a skirt. And not a very warm one if we're at it. Funny how I chose to wear jeans when it was 26 C and today I didn't even care for tights...

Being a teacher constantly under a threat of catching swine flu and in desperate panic at the very idea, it's not the wisest decision to run around barelegged. But there you have it.

Jeszcze tylko ze dwa tygodnie i będę miała pod ręką mojego nadwornego fotografa, który za talerz strawy jest gotów na wiele poświęceń, więc zostanie bezczelnie przeze mnie wykorzystany.

Za tydzień mam obronę. Zaczynam odczuwać niepokój pomimo tego, że poklepują mnie po plecach i pocieszają osoby mniej i bardziej doświadczone w tym temacie mówiąc: "To tylko formalność". Ja się na to nie dam nabrać niestety, nie po obronie licencjata, która też miała być formalnością, a były komplikacje...

I pomimo tego, że zazwyczaj stres działa na mnie motywująco i powinnam teraz siedzieć i się uczyć - jak widać tego nie robię. No cóż :)

Historia tego zestawu wygląda tak: weź spodnie, któe do niczego ci nie pasują i dorzuć do nich coś, co odwróci od nich uwagę :) Stąd pseudoturban na głowie, który jest też po części efektem mojej zadumy pt. "co by tu zrobić z włosami, bo już mam ich dość".

In about two weeks time I'll be able to abuse my photographer and bribe him with food :) This way everybody will be happy.

Next week I'm defending my MA. The amounts of calmness in me are melting even though people who do or don't know something about such situations try to convince me it's going to be mere formality. It's not, I know, I've been through BA.

The story behind this outfit is: take those ole pants you have no idea how to pair with anything and throw in some things that could make them less conspicuous :) That's how I got to have a pseudoturban on my head. It's also a means of hiding my hair which I have no idea how to manage anymore :)

No to dałam im spokój zapewne na wieczność. Przynajmniej mojej poznańskiej bandzie. Były łzy, kwiaty, prezenty, uściski, przesentymentalizowane sceny zapewnień o tym, że będę tęsknić. To pierwsze i ostatnie to głównie ja - nadworna emocjonalna chybotliwość tego świata.
Bo będę tesknić okropnie za dzieciakami, za nauczycielami jeszcze bardziej. Natomiast za dyrektorem ani trochę; ani chwili, nawet tej najbardziej pustej w życiu, nie poświęcę na myśl o włądzy :) Ale poza dyrektorem - praca w szkole to była bajka, a przynajmniej tak chcę to pamiętać.
Strój zakończenioworoczny został obrzydliwie zepsuty przez fakt, że stopy me odmówiły współpracy. Próbowałam na nie wcisnąć buty minimalnie przyciasne, w których spędziłam cały wczorajszy dzień. Dziś już nie dały się nabrać.
A make up sobie dziś popływał.

So I did. I left the kids and everybody else alone and most probably will never come back. There were tears, flowers, presents, hugs, and all sorts of oh-i'm-gonna-miss-you scenes of sadness. The first and the last ones were expressed by me almost solely. Oh well. I'm emotional.

The saddest thing is that I'm going to miss the kids terribly, some of the teachers even more. I don't think I'm going to spend even the dullest moment of my life thinking of the headmaster who was a jerk all along, but honestly - the whole two-year experience was magic (I want to remember it that way :)).

The outfit was harshly disturbed by the scandalous behaviour of my feet, which refused to cooperate when I put some high heels only a milimeter too tight, in which I spent the whole day yesterday.

And the make up, well, it had a good swim.

No nareszcie, zrobiło się całkiem ciepło. Na kilka godzin rano. Potem znów zimnica i wiatr. I co ja się dziwię - w końcu nie założyłam rajstop. Ale nawet patrząc na moją gęsią skórkę miałam wrażenie, że wygląda radośniej niż zwykle, zapewne poddając się złudzeniu, że lato nieługo nadejdzie na dłużej niż dwa dni. Dwa naiwniaki, ja i moja gęsia skórka. Ale ponieważ czuję się bezpieczniej jak jestem przygotowana na każdą okazję - oto mój outfit na dwudziestoczterostopniowy "upał".

Jutro pierwszy z dwu dni, kiedy muszę się wystroić. Potrzebuję stworzyć dwa zestawy, a żaden nie przychodzi mi do głowy. Jutro będzie sonsorowane przez "Na wariackich papierach".

At last! It was pretty warm today. In the morning. Then it got cold and windy. And should I be surprised - I didn't put any tights on. But even my goosebumps was kind of more cheerful than usually, you could feel the summer might actually come at last for more than 2 days. And because I like to be prepared for all circumstances - this is my outfit for 24 degrees :)

Ktoś chętny na stanowisko fotografa? Z przyjemnością zatrudnię. Oraz wynajmę jakiś pojemny nośnik pamięci kompatybilny z moim mózgiem w celu wchłonięcia mas informacji na obronę.

Frapuje mnie następująca zagadka wszechświata: czemu piszę kiedy nie mam nic do powiedzenia albo mam piasek w oczach? Nie wiem. Wiem za to, że nie pogardziłabym jakimś czasem wolnym, ażeby móc sobie w nieskończoność myśleć o tym, co założyć. I żeby móc zrobić zdjęcia na dworze, a nie jakieś udawane na parapecie.

I'll hire a photographer. And a large memory stick that could be inserted to my brain through my ear so that I had at least some chances with my MA.

Wonder why I post when I have absolutely nothing to say or am tragically sleepy. I sooo wish I had some more free time to think the outfits over and get nice pics outside, and not just pathetically on the window sill :)

Chyba lepiej zacząć od razu. Zdjęcia - może niezbyt odkrywcze czy skomplikowane ale są tu li i jedynie po to, żeby mnie pokazać i wyeliminować wszelaką anonimowość. A więc (flashback na nauczycielkę biologii z podstawówki) to ja, mistrz kiepskiego światła oraz samowyzwalacza, z mizerną namiastką makijażu ale niestety bez nawet najmizerniejszej namiastki biżuterii.
